The new Netflix romantic drama tells the story of two longtime neighbors, a widow and widower who find unexpected romance in the fictional town of Holt, CO. With the majority of the film being shot at night and on location in Colorado Springs, cinematographer Stephen Goldblatt and gaffer Steve Mathis opted to take a fresh, creative approach with their lighting scheme.
During prep, Mathis reachout out to LiteGear president and CEO, Al DeMayo who recommended using LiteMats, as well as LiteTiles, which were brand new beta prototypes at the time. The crew used these fixtures for everything; Interior shots in Addie’s (Jane Fonda) home, interior car shots, and exterior shots in and around town. Not only did these lights provide a beautiful crisp soft source, but the flexibility and sleek profile of these products allowed the crew to use them in difficult challenging scenarios while on location.
