LiteGear is looking for a highly self-driven Mechanical Design Engineer to join our
dynamic team of engineers! The role is collaborative with design team during the
development, validation, and manufacturing process. You will be part of the team
that develops world class lighting products, and lead key efforts in our industry. This position requires previous electronics lab, manufacturing, and/or test experience. You are expected to be 100% onsite at the facility – this is a full-time, on-site position.

Primary Requirements and Responsibilities

  • Design of world-class lighting and lighting ecosystem products using 3D
  • SolidWorks CAD to meet product requirements.
    Plans and conducts testing to validate design function. Outputs including CAD drawings, reports, and BOM’s.
  • Will be responsible for consumer/professional product design, including
    incorporation of multi-input design aesthetics to launch market-leading
    products.
  • Develop suppliers from first article to high volume production with make/buy
    decisions and selecting multiple vendors.
  • Develop domestic and international suppliers to meet quality, performance
    and cost targets of design outputs.
  • Rapid protoyping of design concepts, prototypes, test fixtures, and
    fabricating parts with hand tools. Collaborates with electronic design
    engineers to create product design and test.
  • Create roadmaps for technology and manufacturing needs to maintain
    LiteGear’s market leadership position.
  • Works with design team to establish material and hardware requirements for
    products.
  • Manage bills of materials and cost thereof.
  • Ensures deliverables are met per program schedules.

Qualified Candidates Must Have

  • BSME in Mechanical Engineering required, MSME preferred.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in electro/mechanical design. Experience in
    manufacturing environment, with electro-mechanical products, tooled
    components and professional product design.
  • Experience in manufacturability (tolerancing, documentation, bill of
    materials, production drawings (ASME Y14.5, GD&T).
  • Mechanical aptitude of interpretation of mechanical drawing specifications.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes (electronics is a plus).
  • Experience overseeing manufacturing and production processes during
    prototype stage and during the launch of new products.
  • Experience with domestic and international suppliers of tooling, sheet metal
    components, cable harnesses and consumer products materials.
  • Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing-driven design issues.
  • Ability to read/understand complex drawings and 3D databases. Proficient
    Designing in 3D using SolidWorks CAD software.
  • Working ability in reading and understanding complex technical data sheets.
  • Ability in organize and manage multiple projects, set priorities and work
    independently.
  • Ability to work with development teams across the different lines of business
    and with suppliers to develop custom solutions.
